The Washington Capitals are one month away from opening the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Believe it or not, we’ve got just two players left to preview. Then we get to predict how everybody does. Today we will preview Sonny Milano.

During the second game of the Capitals season, they made news by signing Milano. Fans were excited to get someone under 30 but we also weren’t sure what we were going to get with him. What the Capitals got was a game changer.

Milano had 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points in 634 games including three game winning goals. He also has hair better than T.J. Oshie and even the Oshbabe himself admitted it.

Milano’s fro is the biggest highlight of the Capitals promotional giveaway calendar. In a January game against the Seattle Kraken, all fans will take home a Sonny Milano chia pet.

Milano’s services this past season earned him a contract extension in early February for three more years worth $1.9 million in average annual value or AAV.

There were three players that stood out to me last season. One was Rasmus Sandin who we only got to see play after the trade deadline.

Another player was Dylan Strome who was the biggest positive in a season full of injuries and negativity with the exception of the Ovi chase.

The third player that stood out to me was Milano. He is a gritty player who has a hard nose to the net, can score the big goal, and stick up for his teammates. That is a good quality to have especially for a player who just turned 27.

We haven’t even seen the best of Milano. He had two different 14 goal seasons on two different teams. His first one was in 2017-18 with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Then he did it again in 2021-22 with the Anaheim Ducks.
