The Washington Capitals are back in action tonight after an overtime thrilling win on Tuesday night over the Boston Bruins. This morning the Capitals recalled forwards Ethen Frank and Riley Sutter as well as defenseman Chase Priskie from the Hershey Bears ahead of tonight’s road game with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Here’s who will suit up tonight for the Capitals:

Forwards: Alex Ovechkin, Aliaksei Protas, Connor McMichael, Hendrix Lapierre, Anthony Mantha, Matthew Phillips, Beck Malenstyn, Ethen Frank, Alex Limoges, Riley Suter, Ivan Miroshnichenko, Nicolas Aube Kubel

Defense: Nick Jensen, Hardy Haman Aktell, Dylan McIlrath, Lucas Johansen, Chase Priskie

Goalies: Darcy Kuemper, Charlie Lindgren

This is a stacked lineup. Connor McMichael had a good game the other night against the Bruins with 10 shots on goal. One of those went in. Matthew Phillips scored the game winning goal in overtime off of a speedy breakaway. He has a good chance to make the roster.

Alex Ovechkin will be playing tonight for the second time this preseason. Last game he was on a line with Ivan Miroshnichenko. During rushes at yesterday’s practice they were both on the top line. McMichael centered that top line.

I wouldn’t read too much into that but if that’s how they line up tonight it’ll really help McMichael put more pressure on the coaching staff and team personnel who has to make decisions on who makes the 23 man roster when all is said and done with the exhibition slate.

Phillips is a stud who has dominated this whole preseason. Don’t let the five foot eight height and 165 pounds weight fool you. He deserves a spot on this roster and hopefully he has another monster of a game to put the pressure on the decision makers.
