Tonight is the first of four meetings between the two Metropolitan Division foes this season. The Capitals are 122-96-13-7 all time against the Islanders and 11-4-1 in their last 16 games against the Isles dating back to the 2021 COVID shortened season. In addition, the Caps are 6-1-1 in their last eight games against the Islanders at home.

Tonight is the Caps third Metropolitan Division matchup of the season. They are 1-1-0 with their win coming over the New Jersey Devils and their loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins loss was 4-0 on Oct. 13 which was opening night while the win over the Devils was 6-4 in Newark on Oct. 25.
