#1 Hendrix Lapierre

Hendrix Lapierre captivated us with his opening night goal in the beginning of the 2021 22 season. Last season he was a key player on the Hershey Bears run to the Calder Cup. After recently getting called up to the Caps, he lit up the scoresheet last night.

Like Protas, Lapierre had a three point night. He had the secondary assist on both the Sonny Milano and Aliaksei Protas goals. Then he scored a sick breakaway which turned out to be the game winning goal to put the Capitals over the edge. The breakaway was finished with a backhander. It was his first goal of the season and second goal of his NHL career since the one he had on that incredible opening night.

With one goal and two assists for three points, it was Lapierre’s first career multi point game. The assist on the Milano goal was his first NHL assist. Lapierre was the Capitals first round choice at 22nd overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. The line of Milano, Lapierre, and Protas combined for eight points in last night’s game with three goals and five assists.

It was a good night all around for the organization as they celebrated Hockey Fights Cancer night before a sold out crowd.
