The Thanksgiving themed Washington Capitals articles keep coming. Before we break down who want at our Thanksgiving table let’s have a little bit of fun with some rivals. At least two of these guys are rivals. Another one I wanted to include as there is no place for bullying in the NHL or any level of hockey for that matter.

But let’s start with the obvious one first:

#3 Sidney Crosby

You knew Sidney Crosby was going to make this list. A little bit of a disclaimer here. I used to dislike Crosby so much growing up as a Caps fan. Now with several seasons under my belt blogging about the Caps my hatred of Crosby turned into respect for Crosby.

Now that doesn’t mean I respect him in all areas. There are still incidents when I scratch my head like when he took his hockey stick and hit a player in the family jewels. Complaining to the refs is another thing. But when Crosby plays a clean game, I respect him. It’ll be boring when he and Alex Ovechkin retire.

But as older as Crosby has gotten there he still has a tendency to complain. Early in his career his complaining was on full display in the dueling hat tricks game. Maybe he wouldn’t have whined so much if he was going to get a hat trick himself.

#2 Mitchell Miller

Those that know me know that I have grown up with a learning disability. I used to be bullied. So every time I see someone else get bullied I am not afraid to call out said bully. What Mitchell Miller has done to Isaiah Meyer Crothers is beyond despicable. It has no place in society.

Last year the Boston Bruins were stupid enough to give him an NHL contract. Prior to that dumb decision, Miller was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes before even a dysfunctional franchise like them decided to cut ties with the kid. But when the Bruins signed him just over two years later, they were hit with a firestorm of criticism not just from the fans but their star players themselves.

You can read more about what Miller did to Meyer Crothers here at your own risk.

Perhaps he may never see NHL ice at all. And even if he plays the sport professionally it’ll be a low tier league. And the criticism will not go away. In fact I think he’s now on HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas in the Slovak Extraliga, a league that you or I might have never been heard of.

But yeah he should be at the kids table every Thanksgiving too for further punishment.

#1 Ryan Reaves

After we covered Sidney Crosby and Mitchell Miller, this kids table wouldn’t be complete without Ryan Reaves. Not a Stanley Cup champion but he got to sit in the press box and watch his buddy Tom Wilson lift the Stanley Cup as a healthy scratch for the Vegas Golden Knights.

The latest team Reaves is now on is the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 14 games he’s had zero goals, zero assists, and zero points and a plus minus of minus 11. He averaged just 7:32 minutes of ice time and hasn’t seen the ice since Nov. 10. Since then, Reaves has served as a healthy scratch.

Later in that year 2018 the Caps were back in Vegas for a regular season game with the Golden Knights. He laid out a blindside hit on Wilson and even autographed pictures of it. Along with his signature he wrote the sentence “he ran into a lion in the jungle”.

A few months later Reaves straight up said, “I just don’t like him. Hands down, I just don’t like the guy.”

Then in 2021 he signed with the New York Rangers and even told the team “I am the solution to your Tom Wilson problem” according to Jeff Marek.

More. 5 things to be grateful for as a Capitals fan. light

What’s his deal with Tom Wilson anyway? I think people just hate Wilson because he’s so good looking.
