The Washington Capitals are back from a five game road trip that ended with a thud. Two straight losses, a 4-1 defeat to Vegas and a 6-0 throttle by Arizona has the Caps in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division and fourth in the wild card.

Monday’s game saw Darcy Kuemper surrender two goals on the first two shots. He was pulled after five shots and only stopped the puck twice. The rest were goals, three to exact and he got pulled for the rest of the game.

The Caps also healthy scratched Evgeny Kuznetsov with the coach calling it a “mental rest” but he is in the lineup tonight. We’ll see if he gets going as his last six games resulted in just one goal.
