3 Capitals players to watch as they seek to end Canadiens playoff run

The Canadiens vs Capitals betting odds on Caesars have the Capitals as 1.5 goal favorites entering tonight's game. Washington has -195 moneyline odds while the Canadiens are the underdog at +162. The over/under is set for 6.0 goals.

The Capitals are coming off a 5-2 win in Game 4 on Sunday. Through four games Washington has scored 10 of their 14 goals at five on five. Their 10 five on five goals are tied for the hird most among playoff teams.

The Capitals are one of three teams to score multiple five on five goals in all of their first round games so far to date.

#3 Logan Thompson

Logan Thompson has been excellent this series and the Caps will need another stellar performance from their goaltender if they want to advance to the next round as early as tonight.

Thompson finished the regular season with a 31-6-6 record with two shutouts, a 2.49 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.

LT has a playoff goals against average of 2.54 this season and a .912 save percentage. He has faced 114 shots in the series and has sopped 104 of them. In the regular season Thompson finished the season third in goals save above expected with 26.0. While he won't win the Vezina Trophy this year, Thompson and the Capitals want something bigger.

#2 Dylan Strome

Dylan Strome finished the regular season with a career high 29 goals and 53 assists for 82 points. So far in the playoffs he has two goals and five assists for seven points along with a plus/minus of +3 while averaging 17:06 minutes of ice time.

In the playoffs Strome is seventh on the team in corsi for percentage at 49.19 percent. He also has an expected goals for percentage of 45.96 percent and a 57.69 percent high danger chances for percentage per Natural Stat Trick.

In the regular season Strome's advanced stats included a corsi for percentage of 48.85 percent, a 47.09 percent expected goals for percentage and a 47.89 high danger chances for percentage.

#1 Alex Ovechkin

All eyes were on him during the regular season. Alex Ovechkin has also had eyes on him throughout the playoffs. Both occassions the Great Eight has showed up and he will need to do so again for Game 5.

Ovechkin finished the regular season with 44 goals and 29 assists for 73 points. He has 897 goals in his career in the regular season and earlier in April bypassed Wayne Gretzky to become the new NHL's goal scoring leader.

In the playoffs Ovechkin has three goals and one assist in four games. His playoff advanced stats include a 50.47 percent corsi for percentage, a 48.60 expected goals for percentage and a 65.22 percent high danger chances for percentage.
