Macklin Celebrini earned the honour of being cover athlete for NHL 27, here are a few Capitals who could make sense as a cover athlete for NHL 28.

Logan Thompson

If Logan Thompson has another solid campaign for the Capitals between the pipes, there is no reason EA shouldn't consider him as a cover athlete.

It's rare that we see goaltenders selected as the cover athlete, but if there is anyone from the Capitals who deserves the nod from over the years, it is Thompson.

Thompson is someone that the Capitals know and trust on the ice, and there is no reason he shouldn't be in consideration as the cover of NHL 28, if they decide to go a goaltending route. His outstanding showing in the 2025-26 season has made him a popular player, so who is to say he can't add another impressive thing to his resume?
