The Washington Capitals take on the Montreal Canadiens beginning on Monday night. We've looked at the first line rushes of the playoff practice grind as well as upcoming storylines in the series. It's time to scout which Canadiens to look out for in this upcoming series.
#3 Sam Montembeault
The 28 year old netminder started in 60 games during the regular season and went 31-24-7 with a 2.82 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. Sam Montembeault isn't quite Jaorslav Halak but that doesn't mean the Caps should take him lightly. What happened in 2010 doesn't matter now but the Caps offense has to be on point.
#2 Cole Caufield
Cole Caufield is 24 years old and plays right wing and will be a tough weapon for the Caps to match up against as he leads the charge with 37 goals and 33 assists for 70 points. He has a plus/minus of plus nine along with 10 power play goals and eight game winning goals. He averages 18:05 mintutes of ice time a night.
Caufield also has some decent advanced stats. His corsi for pecentage is at 50.65 percent, his expected goals for percentage is at 47.71 percent and his high danger chances for pecentage is at 42.32 perecent for the regular season.
#1 Nick Suzuki
25 year old center Nick Suzuki is the Habs best player and had another good season. He recorded 30 goals and 59 assists for 89 points and had a plus/minus of +19 while averaging 20:04 mintues of ice time per game. He added nine game winning goals so he does have the clutch gene along with Caufield.
Per Natural Stat Trick, Suzuki's advanced regular season stats included a 51.94 corsi for percentage, a 49.29 expected goals for percentage as well as 44.72 high danger chances for percentage.
