The NHL Trade Deadline is coming up soon so let's revisit the 5 worst trades in Washington Capitals history.

#5 Jonas Siegenthaler to the New Jersey Devils for an Arizona Coyotes (Now Utah Hockey Club) 2021 3rd Rounder

This one scratched many heads just as badly as the Jakub Vrana and Richard Panik along with draft picks to the Detroit Red Wings for Anthony Mantha. It made sense at the time as Jonas Siegenthaler requested a trade to get more playing time as he wasn't getting it under the system of Peter Laviolette. Washington also had to make room to get under the salary cap at the time.

The Caps also had Zdeno Chara on thethird pairing that season and Martin Fehervary on the way. It was a smart move at the time but it proved costly as he became a top shut down defenseman with the New Jersey Devils.

So far this season the defenseman has two goals and seven assists for nine points as well as a plus/minus of +9. The only thing that makes folks happy right now around these parts is where the Capitals are in the Metropolitan Division standings which is currently 12 points ahead of the Devils.
