Washington Capitals team captain Alex Ovechkin suffered a lower body injury during last night's game in Utah over the "Hockey Club" and is listed as week to week, per Capitals Public Relations. On Wednesday Nov. 20, Ovechkin will have further evaluations with team physicians in D.C.

Before the incident Ovi was having the time of his life in Salt Lake City with two goals, inching close to having a hat trick for the second night in a row. It even valuted him to all alone in first place in the NHL at age 39.

Once again here's the play on how it happened. As you can see, Jack McBain had a leg on leg collision with Ovechkin before the Caps put the game away. He got up after the hit. Got to the bench. Then walked down the tunnel down to the dressing room and did not return to the game. There was 14:30 left in it.

Usually the vibes are good when the Caps win. Wins are still good but this is still a bad loss. Nic Dowd was blunt about it in the locker room following the game per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com:

"It (stinks). Hate to see it. He's been absolutely on fire and he's huge for our team. He's our captain. You've got to score goals to win games. He's been playing incredible hockey, so, yeah, I hate to see it."

The Caps will practice on Wednesday to gear up for a rematch with the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday with the puck dropping at 7 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network.

Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie are already on LTIR. Sonny Milano has been out since Nov. 8 on IR with an upper body injury. The Hershey Bears play on Wednesday at Toronto at 7 p.m.
