Breaking down the upcoming 50th anniversary Capitals alumni weekend

Lots of jam packed festivities for ALL CAPS fans

The Washington Capitals are celebrating 50 years of Caps hockey jam packed with festivities for ALL CAPS fans. Starting on Thursday Oct. 10 is the Caps 50 Fest presented by TikTok. The next day is the alumni game at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. On Oct. 12 is finally the season and home opener.

The list of alumni attending this weekend include Greg Adams, Karl Alzner, John Barrett, Peter Bondra, Bruce Boudreau, Rollie Boutin, Troy Brouwer, Matt Bradley, Tony Cassolato, Guy Charron, Chris Clark, John Druce, John Erskine, Eric Fehr, Tomas Fleishchmann, Lou Franceschetti.

There is currently a virtual auction for the alumni community fund featuring exclusive memorablilia, unique experiences, and one of a kind items donated by Caps alumni. It closes on Saturday Oct. 12 at 8:30 p.m.

The Caps 50 Fest presented by TikTok is a 50th anniversary celebration coming up Thursday night from Capital One Arena featuring Third Eye Blind as the headlining act. The concert will mark the official kickoff of the Caps 50th anniversay and promises to bring together the entire Caps 2024-25 roster, over 60 Caps alumni, and fans for an incredible night celebrating five decades of Capitals hockey along with the organization's future.

On Friday Oct. 11 is the Capitals alumni game which will feaure a showdown at MedStar Capitals Iceplex that's free and open to the public at 2 p.m. and if you're unable to make it Monumental Sports Network will provide exclusive coverage with interviews and ice level access from 2-3:30 p.m.

Finally on Oct. 12 is the home opener which will feature the Rock the Red carpet ahead of the 7 p.m. puck drop from Capital One Arena. It should be a lit weekend ahead for fans young and old alike.
