Earlier this month the Washington Capitals along with Monumental Sports and Entertainment, Entertainment Gang, and U.S. Figure Skating announced a charity benefit titled "Legacy on Ice" for the victims of the airplane crash tragedy at Ronald Reagan National Airport. Many of whom that passed away trained at local MedStar Capitals Iceplex which is where the Caps train on a regular basis.
This event will be co hosted by Olympic Champion Brian Boitano and will feature skating superstars Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, Madison Chock and Evan Bates plus more. It'll be a live figure skating tribute that'll take place on Sunday March 2, 2025 at Capital One Arena in downtown, Washington, D.C. to support the families and loved ones affected by the incident at Ronald Reagan National Airport on January 29, 2025.

Legacy on Ice promises to be a powerful tribute to those lost, including members of the U.S. figure skating community. It will be more than a star studded performance and unite the sport's greatest legends and rising stars in a "breathtaking showcase of artistry, athleticism, and rememberance."
The event will feature heartfelt solos by today's champions and once in a lifetime performances featuring multiple generations of skating greats, and will blend "history, emotion, excellence - ensuring that the legacies of those lost continue to insprire generations to come".
Legacy on Ice will honor the 67 lives lost and raise funds to support victims' families and the first responders and aviation professionals that worked tirelessly in the aftermath of the tragedy. All proceeds from the event will be collected by the Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation and equally distributed to the U.S. Figure Skating Family Support Fund, Greater Washington Community Foundation's "DCA Together Relief Fund," and DC Fire and EMS Foundation.
