Alex Tuch was drafted 18th overall in the 2014 NHL draft by the Minnesota Wild, where he played 6 games before being traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 expansion draft.
Tuch would play 4 seasons with Vegas, scoring 61 goals and tallying 78 assists for 139 points in 249 career games for the Golden Knights. Tuch was then traded to the Buffalo Sabres alongside Peyton Krebs in exchange for Jack Eichel.
In his 5 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, Tuch would establish himself as a solid top-6 player and even helped them make the playoffs after 14 seasons.
Tuch also became a fan favorite for Sabres fans during his time there and in those 5 seasons Tuch scored 139 goals, registering 170 assists for 309 total points in 360 games with Buffalo and that brings us to today where after the 2025-26 NHL season ended Tuch would be traded to the Washington Capitals in a sign and trade where he would sign a 8 year extension worth $84 Million which ended up being $10.5 million AAV.
Looking around the corner as the 2026-27 NHL season is about to begin, the Capitals have created a very strong team that has the chance to compete for the Stanley Cup, and with that, Alex Tuch is now only 52 points away from the career milestone of 500. In his last 5 seasons with Buffalo, Tuch has not registered fewer than 52 points in his first season with the Sabres, so in the last 4 years he has surpassed the 52-point mark.
