Capitals bounce back and put up a snowman in St. Louis

After losing to the Pens on National TV, the Caps responded in a big way

The Washington Capitals completely routed the St. Louis Blues by the final of 8-1 at Enterprise Center. Connor McMichael got things started 59 seconds in off a pass from Jakob Chychrun to make it 1-0.

The Blues would tie i wiht a oal from Scott Perunovich at 7:07. 1-1 would be the score after one and from that point on it would be ALL CAPS.

Alex Ovechkin struck at 7:42 to make it 2-1 with Aliaksei Protas and Dylan Strome assisting there. Cychrun made it 3-1 at 10:53 with helpers from Pierre-Luc Dubois and Tom Wilson.

In the third, the Caps continued to pour it on. Ovechkin struck again for a power play goal for his 10th of the season with Strome and Wilson helping there. It was Ovi's 10th goal of the season to put him 32 behind Wayne Gretzky for number one in goals all time. That came at 2:09 in the third

Rasmus Sandin made it 5-1 with Mike Sgarbossa and Andrew Mangiapane helping there at 3:51. Connor McMichael then sturck for his 10th goal of the season which was also on the power play. Dylan Strome and John Carlson helped there at 10:20.

Michael Sgarbossa tacked on the extra point at 15:27 with Mangiapane and Martin Fehervary helping there. Brandon Duhaime made it 8-1 with John Carlson and Taylor Raddysh helping there. It was Duahime's third of the season.

Lost in the Ovi and Connor Mc madness as both were a goal away from the hat trick was the stellar play of Logan Thompson. He stopped 24 of 25 shots from the Blues to improve to 7-0-0 on the season. Thompson is the first Caps goaltender to win their first even games with the franchise.

As for Ovi and McMichael they both lead the Caps with 10 goals. Ovechkin notched his second game winning goal of the season and the 131st of his career against the Blues. Only Jaromir Jagr (135) has more game winning goals in NHL history.

McMichael notched his third multi goal performance in 14 games this season after entering the season with just two multi goal games in his first 155 outings.

The win improves the Caps record this sason to 10-4-0 with 20 points, good for third place in the Metropolitan Divison. Next up for the Caps is a Wednesday night home game with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 13. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network.
