It was also a milestone for team owner Ted Leonsis as the man who purchased the team in 1999 and is the second most among NHL owners.

Logan Thompson would pick up the win in goal. He made 33 saves with a .943 save percentage to improve his record to 6-0-0.

Timing of saves - huge. One of the most important things as a goaltender is obviously saving the puck (as well as) the timing of it. ...I call them gamers, man. I love gamers. When the oven gets turned up, that's when they thrive. I feel like he's got a little bit of that in him. The more that's at the stake, the more that's on the line, the more intense the game gets, he thrives in those moments.
Spencer Carbery

As for the Great Eight who has six goals in his last five games, Carbery added, "Our bench just goes bananas every time (laughing). ...His teammates can feel that and sense that, and it makes everybody - when he touches the puck - everybody sorta holds their breath a little bit."

The Caps are back in action Friday night when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Hulu and ESPN plus. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
