With the 2026 NHL draft just days away, the Washington Capitals still have time to decide who they want to draft at the 18th spot, after trading away the 16th overall selection in a trade to acquire Jordan Kyrou.
While that pick could be traded, they likely draft a player that they think will better their organization's future, and Alexander Command could be that player for the Capitals. Alexander Command spent the 2025-26 season playing for the Orebro HK Jr hockey team, where he played in 30 games and registered 17 goals, 27 assists, and 44 points, which led his team.
Alexander Command is 6-foot-1 and is not afraid to be physical if he knows it can benefit his team. While Command may not be the most flashy name from the draft, his skill set is different from other players, as he is known for his work ethic. Every shift, he is noticeable for being aggressive on the puck and always providing pressure on the opposing team.
While Command's skillset is not elite or flashy, it's his all-around game that makes him effective, and it can be applied in both offensive and defensive scenarios. He is the type of player who can be the difference-maker because of his work ethic, speed, and physicality.
Command has been ranked 13th by TSN Craig Button, and if he is available when the Capitals are on the clock, it could be worth their while to draft Command. Overall Command may not be the player with the most offensive abilities, but his value lies in his reliability on both ends of the ice. He continues to improve the more he plays, and he could be a good option for the Capitals.
