The Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings face off tonight for the third and final time this regular season. At the conclusion of morning skate, Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery provided good news after Dylan Strome missed yesterday's practice due to illness.
Dylan Strome is ready for action
After missing Monday's practice with an illness, Spencer Carbery said Dylan Strome good to go while also saying that Logan Thompson will get the start in goal.
Strome scored his 21st goal of the season on Saturday at the San Jose Sharks in a win. He has scored three goals in his last four games. He reached the 20 goal mark for the fourth consecutive season. Strome leads the Capitals in points, assists, and power play points this season with 26.
Strome overall has 21 goals and 44 assists for 65 points in 67 games played. He has already set a single season career high in assists and is three points shy of establishing a new career high in points.
Strome reached the 60 point mark for the third time in his career. All three of his 60 point seasons have come with Washington. He enters tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings with points in 15 of his last 18 games.
On March 9 against the Seattle Kraken, Strome played in his 500th career game. He has played in 186 consecutive games which is the longest active streak among Capitals skaters. He is on pace for 79 points this season after his 67 points last season led the Capitals and marked a career high.
