If the Washington Capitals are to add an elite playmsker to their roster, they will have to give up a valuable NHL forward or two to make a Blockbuster trade work.

Lappy was a first round pick in 2020 Draft and made the Caps opening night roster as an 18 year old. Since then, the 24 year old has struggled to find his consistency. He has played very well in Hershey but has had a harder time sticking with the big club. Last year was his first full season on the Caps roster. He didn’t could have used more playing time, but his underlying numbers show he was one of the most effective of the Capitals forwards. A trade may be the best thing of Lapierre at this point, where he goes where he gets more of an opportunity to show what he can do. That value is why the Capitals may look to move him in a trade to bring a heavy hitter.
