Four Things The Caps Must Address For Next Season

The Washington Capitals will have to address these a number of things this summer via trade or free agency if they want to make a run at the Stanley Cup in 2026-27.

Depth Forwards

It is probable that the Caps will move some current players on their roster in a trade or two this summer, leaving holes in the roster. Maybe Ilya Protas, Andrew Cristall, and Bogdan Trinyev are ready for the NHL, and the Capitals can fill out their roster from within. But that would be asking a lot from some young players as the team tries to compete for the Stanley Cup. The Capitals could turn to the late summer free agent market, when quality veteran NHLers can be acquired at a lower cost.
