We've got one more group left to grade from the Washington Capitals sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers. We'll do both of them in this one as Charlie Lindgren got the nod on the road Tuesday night while Logan Thompson started at home.
First up is Lindgren as he made 17 saves in the victory at Wells Fargo Center while allowing only one goal. The victory improved his record to 2-1-0 on the young season. It was an A+ performance to say the least.
While Lindgren shined on Tuesday Thompson did the same thing on Wednesday. Taylor Raddysh would comment on the performance via Bailey Johnson of The Post:
"He had some really big saves. Obviously there's something some that could've found the back of the net, bu he was there to make the save. He's been doing that quite well. We've just got to keep trying to defend better in front of him and try to limit those chances."Taylor Raddysh
Pierre-Luc Dubois and Alex Ovechkin thankfully would pad that lead with the empty net goals. PLD added in the same story, "We want to get there. It's a long season - there's a lot to do - but these points are just as valuable as the points in March."
Thompson would add via Mike Vogel of WashCaps.com, "Obviously, going up 4-0 is always nice. But you know that team with that coach over there, that they're not going to give up. And credit to them, they didn't, and hey made some plays, and they're back in the game."
Thompson of course is talking about how the defense bent in the second period but did not break in the third. Thompson gets an A- ultimaely which is still pretty darn good. The Caps will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. They'll practice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex at 10:30 a.m.
