The Washington Capitals are off from game action until Friday so we've got a fun exercise here where we'll list the three cold players and three hot players so far this season.
We'll start with the cold
#3 Sonny Milano: This one was a bad one because he's been out since Nov. 8 with an upper body injury. Even in game action he appeared in three games but has yet to find the scoresheet. He also has a plus/minus of -3 while averaging 21:38 minutes of ice time during the breif time he plays.
#2 Hendrix Lapierre: This one hurt too. He was a stud the last two years with the Hershey Bears but has only six assists in 19 games and a plus/minus of -2 while averaging 10:18 minutes of ice time. Granted he sort of ish had the spotlight taken from other players but he still needs to seize the opportunity when in the lineup.
#1 Charlie Lindgren: Ugh. Not that one. Anything but that one. But his record is 7-5-0 and a 2.95 goals against average and an .890 save percentage. Though the 31 year old veteran is still a backbone of this team and kept the Caps in tight games even in defeat.
And that brings us to the hot
#3 Alex Ovechkin: Up until the lower body injury, Ovi was simply dominat at age 39 putting up 15 goals and 10 assists for 25 points in 18 games played putting him 26 away from a certain record. He did this while averaging 17:36 minutes of ice time and has a plus/minus of +15. With the progress he's continuing to make, hopefully the chase will be back on soon.
#2 Dylan Strome: Zini has eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points along with a plus/minus of plus 17 while averaging 17:34 minutes of ice time. He also has 16 blocked shots and won 55.3 percent of his face off draws.
#1 Logan Thompson: A pickup over draft weekend in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights, LT has proved he can do it in is new home. He's 10-1-2 with a 2.52 goals against average and a .913 save percentage earning his stripes in a lot of the big games.
Connor McMichael gets an honorable mention from us with his 24 points in 25 games with 14 goals and 10 assists. Caps will be back in action on Friday night at 7 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network at the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are coming off a win over the Nashville Predators as of this writing.
