Tonight's betting odds per FanDuel have the Capitals as 1.5 goal favorites at home. Washington has -315 moneyline odds, while the Ducks are the underdog at +250. The over/under is set at 5.5.
The Capitals are coming off a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday that extended their point streak to seven games with a 4-0-3 record. Washington's current seven game point streak marks its second longest point streak of the season. The previous mark was nine games from Nov. 25 to Dec. 14 to the tune of an 8-0-1 record.
In Saturday's win in Nashville, Tom Wilson would open the scoring with his ninth power play goal of the season. Wilson's nine power play goals are a career high and are tied for the fourth most in the NHL. The Capitals have scored a power play goal in nine of their past 11 games and have converted on 10 of their last 27 opportunities in that stretch dating back to Dec. 22. That's good for 37 percent.
Washington scored four power play goals in their first 13 games of the season and ranked last in the NHL in power play percentage on Nov. 8 at 8.7 percent. Since then, the Capitals have scored a League best 26 power play goals and own a 32.9 power play percentage. Their 24.0 power play percentage on the season ranks 11th in the NHL.
Washington's lines were a little different at practice yesterday. Per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com, the top line had Alex Ovechkin with Pierre-Luc Dubois
Gulitti also noted that Charlie Lindgren did not practice. Logan Thompson will get the nod in net for the third start in a row. That will be a first for the newcomer who's already proven himself to the lineup.
