The 39 year old has 17 in 20 games this season which is tied for the second most he has scored in the first 20 games of a season in his carer. The other times were 18 goals in 20 games in 2009-10 and 17 goals in the 2013-14 season.
Ovechkin has also scored in his last four games dating back to Nov. 17 which is seven goals in four games played. If Ovi can reach 20 goals this season which now looks like a matter of when, he would tie Ron Francis for the second most 20 goal seasons in NHL history.
