Washington is coming off a huge win over the Florida Panthers which came Monday night in the first game of the Florida trip. Jakob Chychrun would provide three points with a goal and two assists and that goal would turn out to be the game winning goal. It was a 1-1 game entering the final period but the Caps played lockdown defense in the final 20.

Chychrun's power play goal came at the five on three advantage and turned out to be the game winner. Spencer Knight on the Panthers end would stop 27 of 29 shots. Logan Thompson would make 20 saves for the Caps to raise his record to 9-1-1 on the season. Six of those 20 saves came in the final four minutes of the contest.

Protecting the lead after striking is exactly what the Caps need to do in a very arena they lost a game in about a month ago. They did a good job protecting that lead on Monday night. Of the six shots that Thompson faced only four of them came at five on five and the closest of those to the net was a Sam Reinhart shot from 29 feet away with seven minutes to go.

After tonight's game against the Panthers the Caps will return home for a Black Friday matchup against the New York Islanders.
