On Monday the Capitals signed goaltender Logan Thompson to a well deserved six year, $35.1 million contract extension carrying an average annual value of $5.85 million. Capitals senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick said in a press release:

"We are pleased to sign Logan to a multi-year contract. Logan has demonstrated that he is one of the top goaltenders in the NHL this season and since he joined the League. With his size and exceptional athleticism, we are confident that this signing will enhance one of the most critical positions of our team, especially in the prime years of his career. "

Tonight's betting odds per Caesars have the Capitals as 1.5 goal favorites on the road with -145 moneyline odds. The Flames are the underdog at +122. Tonight's over/under is set at 5.5 goals.

The Capitals have a record of 45-44-13-3 all time agaisn the Calgary/Atlanta franchise and are 13-4-3 which is good for a .725 point percenage in their last 20 games against the Flames. In additon, Washington is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Capitals are 33-11-5 this season which is good for 71 points and tied with the Winnipeg Jets for first place in the NHL.
