It's time to look at each Washington Capitals player that suited up this past season. That's right it's player report card time. We'll start our offseason with Hunter Shepard who appeared in one game for the Caps and has mostly played with the Hershey Bears.

Before looking at this past season let's look at the season before. Shepard went 2-1-1 with a 3.19 goals against average and a .894 save percentage.

He only got one start this past season and it came on April 12 in a loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a final of 7-0. He would allow seven goals off 26 shots while making 19 saves.

In the AHL he went 23-11-4 with three shutouts. So far in the Calder Cup Playoffs he is 2-4 with one shutout. In the regular season he had a goals against average of 2.80 and an .891 save percentage.

In the playoffs this year Shepard has a 2.37 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. After Shepard allowed seven goals in his lone NHL start, the Caps would recall Clay Stevenson as Shepard got sent back to the Bears.

The Caps had to dip into their goaltending pipeline late in the season due to Logan Thompson having an upper body injury late in the regular season.

While Shepard got that start in Columbus, Thompson was back home skating so at the time he was close to making his return and low and behold he would get the net during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. So Thompson turned out okay at the end.

Grade F: Yeah his one start was pretty bad so we have to give out the hard grade to start this thing off. Allowing seven goals is never a good thing. Shepard was always an AHL goaltender though.
