Washington Capitals netminder Logan Thompson has simply been that dawg to start the season for his new team. In fact don't take our word for it.
Here's what Victoria Matiash from ESPN Fantasy Hockey said about Thompson a week ago:
"The better of Washington's two netminders, Thompson was fantastic in Sunday's 40 save, 5-2 victory in Vegas. The Capitals' goalie has yet to lose in regulation tis season with just the one OT loss to show for the nine starts (.913 save percentage). While Charlie Lindgren is 4-4-0 (.897 save percentage) on the year. "Victoria Matiaash of ESPN.com
Thompson is now 8-1-1 with a 2.58 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. Sean Allen of ESPN.com wrote the Caps as number one as far as teams goaltenders should be avoided against wih a 1.68 opposing goalie PFAPG.
Not much news from the optional skate but there was some kind words from the opposition in the form of Panthers head coach Paul Maurice who priased the way both of his systems are run, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post:
"I think in the past, you felt if you could get to Ovi or you could close him out or you could eliminate that, they you had a really, really good chance of winning that game. I don't think that's true of the way that they play. They play a really good team game. Systematically, they're not far from us at all. They do one or two different things on some rush defense than we do, but they play the game that we play now. They go to the net hard. They collapse at their own net. They don't cheat the game. They'll make plays, but long gone are the - they're not a seven-pass seam team on the way up the ice. They used to be. They're not either. They play a lot like we do. "Paul Maurice
Thompson lost his first game against the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night which marked his first defeat in regulation this season. He made 25 saves in the loss for a .926 save percentage so expect a bounce back game from LT tonight and insert him into your lineup if you play fantasy.
