This is a huge loss for the Capitals who have been lucky for most of the season barely dealing with injuries except for that big Alex Ovechkin one in November. Fehervary has played key shutdown roles all season long and is all over the boards on the penalty kill.
He's mainly been paired with Matt Roy who told the media at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Tuesday at optional practice, "It's a huge loss."
"Really feel for him. My heart hurts for him, because he's an unsung hero for our team. If you know the Washington Capitals and if you're around our team and if you watch our team, he's someone that goes unnoticed, that the rest of the hockey world doesn't pay much attention to, but he's a big part of our team. He competes his but off every single day, every single night. Lays it on the line. "Spencer Carbery
Alex Alexeyev, who had to get "significant dental work" after he took a high stick from Jake Evans in the in the end of Game 1, remains in the lineup and will play in Game 2. Alexeyev appeared in eight games during the regular season and was noticable on the ice in Game 1 as he was a plus one through 14:02 minutes of play.
Ethan Bear also appears to be the next man up. He's been playing on th eleft side since being called up. Dylan McIlrath is the other healthy blueliner.
Game 2 is Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network and ESPN.
