Matt Roy had a nightmarish start to his time as a member of the Washington Capitals as the defenseman suffered a lower body injury on opening night and has been out since. But this morning he rejoined the team for practice and per Spencer Carbery, is trending toward making his return tomorrow night against the Nashville Predators.

In not so good news, Jakob Chychrun seems to still be out as he only skated prior to practice. In other news, the Caps had a guest coach today in Rachel Flanagan who is a coach for the Toronto Sceptres of the PWHL.

As for Chychrun, Carbery noted this per Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network:

He skated this morning for a solid 45 (minutes) with Kenny (McCudden) so he's also progressing (but) not to the point he's in practice quite yet. But moving along.

Roy was wearing a regular jersey and was paired with Rasmus Sandin on the second defensive unit.

While the Caps are coming off a loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, Dylan Strome continues to stay hot as he extended his assist stream to four games. Per the Caps, should Strome register an assist on Wednesday he would match his career long streak of five games that he had from Feb. 17 through the 26th last season.

Prior to Sunday's game, Strome had recorded three straight multi assist games from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. and his seven assists during the week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3 led the NHL, while his eight points (one goal, seven assists) in four games ranked fourth among skaters.

Strome and Alex Ovechkin, who was named the NHL's First Star of the Week on Monday, combined for the highest point total (17) by a pair of teammates last week.

Strome leads the Caps in assists with 13 and points with 17 and has at least one point in 10 of the Caps 11 games, including five multi point performances. Strome led the Caps with 67 points last season with 27 goals and 40 assists and didn't reach the 17 point mark until his 27th game on Dec. 16.
