The Washington Capitals announced on Monday that the team along with Washington Harbour will unveil a special permanent plaque in comemoration of the 2018 Stanley Cup championship celebration at the Washington Harbour fountain in Washington D.C.'s Georgetown.

The unveiling will take place where the Washington Harbour Ice Rink is currently installed on Friday Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. and Capitals players Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie will be on hand for the ceremony as they made their presence felt on that same fountain back then after hoisting the Cup in 2018.

Monumental Sports Network's Alexa Landestoy will serve as the host of the event and to kick off the unveiling fans are invited to a Rock the Rink skate starting at 4:30 p.m. in an event that will feature a DJ, an appearance by Slapshot, giveaways, prizes and additional activities.

Attendees wearing Capitals gear will receive discoutned skating during the designated skating sessions through 6:30 p.m. and the rink features Capitals branding in honor of the team's 50th Anniversary.

Fans that attend the event are encouraged to share their photos and videos that they captured during the Capitals 2018 championshpip celebration at Washington Harbour by heading over here. The submitted materials will be used as the Capitals celebrate the plaque unveiling.

For those who are new here or don't know the signifcance of the fountain, look no further than the aftermath of the Caps hoisting the Cup in 2018. Once the team landed in D.C. from Vegas they continued to party and I mean continued in the kindest terms.

It started at a bar in Clarendon that Friday night. It carried over into a day Nationals baseball game with the Stanley Cup on display for all to see at MLB's Nationals Park. Following the game, they headed to the Georgetown Waterfront and had a good share of adult beverages.

Once those beverages were consumed a shirtless Alex Ovechkin and a wet fully clothed Oshie playfully embraced in the fountain before a random Caps fan came up to them and poured beer on the two of them. Ovi would go on to do pushups as more players jumped into the fountain.

The video itself is marvelous. This is how you do it when you win and now there will be a plaque of the milestone of winning the Cup forever in the streets Georgetown.
