The Washington Capitals defeaed the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 with both goals scored by Pierre-Luc Dubois. That included the overtime winner. It upped his goal total to seven and helped him further silence the critics.

To further break it down Dubois has six points in a five game point streak with two goals and four assists. But after the game PLD was quick to credit his teammate Aliaksei Protas who was able to set him up via Mike Vogel of WashCaps.com:

"That was just all (Protas). I just had to come down and score. (Lars Eller) gave me a really good look before (in overtime), and I missed that one. It was a really nice play by pro. "

Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery added: "I thought we were physcially engaged right away. We knew it was going to be a highly competitive game right away, right from the start. With where Vancouver is at, and the games, we felt that last year we had some really tight (games), both games we played against them in the second half of the yar. So we had a feeling that this was going to be a little nasty out there, and it sarted that way, and continued on through the game."

Dubois had two goals on the night which upped his total to seven on the season which helped the Caps get two points from a game in which they didn't quite play a whole 60 minutes. The game started bad on both sidss and the Caps weren't quite up to the tempo early but they caught it later on.

Dubois is now tied for 30th in the NHL with 26 assists and his point streak now is up to six with two goals and four assists thanks to Wednesday's game. PLD would add, "I was saying on that first one, I was trying to crossbar for (Wilson) to get a rebound on that. But that's just how it's been going this year. But when you're playing with great players like this, you just stay patient, and you know it will come."

it came for PLD in overtime and the Caps needed it. With the win it improved their record to 27-1-4 with 58 points which is good for the most in the Metropolitan Division, the Eastern Conference and tied for second overall in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets just one point behind the Vegas Golden Knights. Eiher way who would have thought the Caps would be in this position right now? None of us did but that's the fun of sports.
