An update on T.J. Oshie's health
It's not good news but it's not surprising either
Washington Capitals legend T.J. Oshie will go on long term injured reserve for the betterment of his health the T.J. Oshie himself announced as well as team president Chris Patrick who each issued seprate statements.
The last season was challenging for me, my family, and my teammates as I dealt with a chronic back injury that kept me out of the lineup. I have used the offseason to explore and pursue long term solutions for my injury. I remain committed to the process and am working and doing my best to regain total health. In the meantime, I will continue to help and support my teammates and the organization in any way I can. I greatly apppecate all of our fans' support during this time.
We will support and assist T.J. as he seeks a lasting solution for his recurring injury. T.J. is a vital member of our team and continues to be an indispensable member of our organization and leadership group. Our organization fully backs him as he assesses his current health challenges.
Since joining the Capitals ahead of the 2015-16 season, Oshie has recorded 385 points in 567 games with 192 goals and 193 assists. He ranked second on the team in goals in that span only behind Alex Ovechkin.
Oshie played in his 1,000th career game on March 16 in Vancouver, becoming the 12th player in frachise history to reach the mark in a Capitals sweater.
Oshie was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues where he played there for seven seasons where he recorded 110 goals and 200 assists for 310 points. In his career he's had 695 points as he's recorded 302 goals and 393 assists for 695 points.
This was the right call by both Oshie and the Caps placing him on long term injured reserve. But we all gotta sing country roads in unison now.
