On Wednesday the NCAA announced the 2027 Frozen Four is coming to DC
Washington Capitals fans young and old, gear up for more college hockey coming to our Nation's Capital. Wednesday the NCAA and MSE announced the Frozen Four will be held at Capital One Arena.
This will mark the second time the Frozen Four will be played in Washington, D.C. The other time was 2009 when Boston University took it home. Not only that but in 2028 the Division I Women's Basketball Regional aka the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 will be held in the barn at 7th and F Street.
Jordan Silberman, President of Venues at Monumental Sports and Entertainment said in a press release:
We are honored to welcome the 2027 NCAA Men's Frozen Four to Capital One Arena, partnering with the U.S. Naval Academy to showcase this remarkable event in our vibrant city. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Capitals this season, this is the perfect time to announce this prestigious event that will be enjoyed by generations passionate hockey fans in the national capital region.
The United States Naval Academy and Events DC will serve as host for the 2027 Frozen Four.
Absolutely. I think young kids are going to pay attention, I think obviously, since I've been here the last couple of years you hear so much about how much hockey has taken off in the DMV community and a lot of that's obviously attributed to the teams that have been here and obviously (Alex) Ovechkin being here, a lot more people are playing hockey. That's what a lot of the kids are doing now.
Charlie Lindgren would add in the same video on X, "Now for them to possibly get the chance to come to the Frozen Four at Capital One and be able to watch four of the best college hockey teams battle it out to win an NCAA championship, which would be again, I look back and, boy, I would do bad things to get to an NCAA championship. But no like I said it's pretty unbelieable and I think the DMV certeinly, once it's over here, people should go out and watch.

Yeah I think it's a good way to grow the game. College hockey is a lot of fun because obviously, without money guys tend to play for one thing and getting to the Frozen Four is really, really challenging as it is right? Like one game elimination. Typically, the best team doesn't end up winning that tournament and, there's always some teams that get hot really late or their goalie gets hot. But, it's a great atmosphere.
2027 is a long ways off but time moves fast. In shorter terms the 50th anniversary season will be here right before we know it.
