Washington Capitals look to try again on the road after a loss Friday on home ice

On Sunday the Washington Capitals released their roster for their game on Monday September 30 against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a game the Caps will look to bounce back from as they lost 8-4 on Friday night.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, who recorded an assist in his Caps preseason deubt on September 24 at the Boston Bruins, is expected to make his second appearance of the preseason on Monday. Dubois and his linemates, Connor McMichael and Tom Wilson combined for a five on five goal against the Bruins as Washington outshot Boston 3-1 at five on five with their line on the ice.

Tom Wilson, who was an All Star for the second time last season, did so by recording 35 points with 18 goals and 17 assists in 74 games last season. The six foot four, 225 pound forward ranked first on Washington in shorthanded goals with two and penalties drawn with 38 penalties drawn.

In his Caps preseason debut on September 25 in New Jersey, goaltender Logan Thompson stopped 25 of 28 shots faced including three of four high danger shots against (per Natural Stat Trick). The Caps acquired Thompson on draft day on June 29 from the Vegas Golden Knights.

Defenseman Rasmus Sandin is expected to finally make his preseason deubt on Monday night. In his first full season with the Caps last year he ranked second on the team in ice time per game at 21:07, which marked a single season career high. Among Capitals defensemen, Sandin ranked second in assists with 20, points with 23 and hits with 75 while tied for second in goals with three and fourth in blocked shots with 106.
