Per The Action Network, there was recently a ranking among the chepest and most expensive NHL tickets around town. Yes Washington Capitals tickets aren't cheap. Who doesn't want to see the great eight in action? But naturally in the rankings they were eigthth in the NHL based on above/belov average cost at $516.66.

The names ahead of them are elite. Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena, Chicago Blackhawks at United Center, Boston Bruins at TD Garden, Bridgestone Arena of the Nashville Predators, Madison Square Garden of the New York Rangers, T-Mobile Arena of the Vegas Golden Knights and Scotiabank Arena of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The title of the article was the best (and worst) NHL stadiums for families. The ranking metrics were based on the cost of four general tickets, cost of two beers and soft drinks, cost of four hot dogs and parking, chid admission policy, total cost, and comparision to average.

Here's more on the Methodology:

"All prices were scrapped from Team Marketing Report's 2023-24 NHL Fan Cost Index. We added up the cost of (food, drink, tickets, etc) and we looked on each website of each stadium to source the child admission policy"

The Counterargument

Compare Caps games to the other sports around town. Commanders games aren't cheap when it comes to transportation. But you have a connecting Metro Center that connects you to downtown DC with plenty of sightseeing to do.

Or you can take the metro on the red line to Gallery/Place Chinatown and you're right there where all the acton is. There's a Caesars' Sportsbook with food to boot. There's a Capital One Cardholder special entryway. In addition plenty of bites to eat nearby the arena. Plus new food vendors come each and every season.

Overall Caps games are a bargain and appologies to the football fans in this counterargument. We all want a stadium back in downtown Washington with the new Josh Harris ownership. That includes the sight of RFK.

Audi Field is just as cool and down the street from Nationals Park. The success of D.C. United and the Washington Spirit has catapulted that success. So much so there's now more soccer games and college football games to boot along with our favorite pastime of baseball.
