Capitals loan Ivan Miroshnichenko to Hershey plus more on Jakub Vrana
The Washington Capitals continued to make roster moves ahead of the season
Yesterday the Washington Capitals placed goaltender Hunter Shepard on waivers and if he clears he heads to the Hershey Bears. On Monday they loaned Ivan Miroshnichenko to the Hershey Bears and forward Andrew Cristall to the Kelowna of the WHL.
The Caps continued to hold their training camp at Capital One Arena in practices that are closed to the public. In related news to the roster that Caps PR mentioned, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network notes that Jakub Vrana is still here.
V had a goal, an assist and a team high 11 shots on goal in four preseason games. Here were the lines:
Logan Thompson is absent for personal and family reasons. Sonny Milano and Jakub Vrana are rotating on the third line. Here is the rest of the lineup:
Ovechkin-Strome-Mangiapane
McMichael-Dubois-Wilson
Milano/Vrana-Lapierre-Protas
Duhaime-Dowd-Raddysh
Chychrun-Carlson
Roy-Fehervary
Sandin-TvR
Alexeyev-McIlrath
Lindgren
El-Bashir also notes this about the Caps and today's upcoming 5 p.m. deadline to submit their opening night roster. Ready. Set. Go.
T.J. Oshie will eventually head to long term injuered reserve. Jakub Vrana is expected to sign a deal. And Dylan McIlrath, the Hershey Bears captain at 32, has made the squad.
Huge news for McIlrath who earned it. Sad news for Oshie but a lot of us expected it. Jakub Vrana coming back to the Caps is a match made in heaven and we are glad the bells and whistles worked out for this in order to happen.
Vrana was a Stanley Cup hero who shouldn't have gotten traded in the first place. Although it's funny how time works out. V was a journeyman for the longest time in Detroit with the Red Wings and St. Louis with the Blues. But now he is back where he belongs and we're ready to welcome him back with open arms when the opportunity was initally presented to him in the form of a PTO.
