Capitals soar past Devils with two goals each from Ovi and McMichael

It was just another good night on 7th and F Street. If we get more of those then the Caps can stay in the race.

Last night we got to see actual Washington Capitals hockey. Goal scoring and timely saves has been the Capitals way for the gen my age and younger. And the older crowd. But some folks want the tank and last night showed they might not be ready yet unless GMBM is having a headache deciding what to do. He has until trade deadline day March 8.

Connor McMichael, the future, and Alex Ovechkin, the present, each had two goals. For Ovi it was his eighth goal in his last eight games catapulting him to 838 goals and 56 from Wayne Gretzky. It all added up to a 6-2 win.

McMichael, who's a 2019 first round draft pick, netted his first 39 seconds into the game. Aliaksei Protas and Rasmus Sandin had apples. Alexander Holtz tied it at 15:06. McMichael got his second one unassisted in the second at 4:17 off a lethal wrister for his 10th of the season.

Other than the Eric Haula goal in garbage time it was ALL CAPS in the third and that's no pun intended. Dylan Strome joined the party at 3-1 and Ovechkin and Sonny Milano assisted on it at 4:10. Ovi entered the chat at 8:44 from the office with Strome setting him up. Mike Sgarbossa brought the chips and soda at 12:27 for his first NHL goal of the season. John Carlson and Max Pacioretty assisted there.

Finally Ovi got a PPG to send the fans home happy. So yes the club of Capital One Arena went up on a Tuesday. Strome and Oshie assisted there. Overall it was a night that reminded us of when the Caps were the Caps. Scoring goals, getting saves and winning games. Speaking of saves, Charlie Lindgren was brilliant with 37 saves on 39 shots. Caps scored all those goals while being outshot 39-26.

Next up for the Capitals is a road game on ESPN Thursday night at the Tampa Bay Lightning. Another rivalry game...
