After T.J. Oshie achieved 1,000 career NHL games, John Carlson will get his turn when the Washington Capitals defenseman takes the ice on Saturday night against the Boston Bruins. He's the 128th defenseman to get there and the 22nd to do it with one franchise.

Carlson is also the 13th active defenseman to accomplish this feat. What's funny is even though he grew up in New Jersey, Carlson was always a Boston sports fan due to being born in Masachusetts. That means he liked those Patriots and Red Sox glory years. And he also was a Bruins fan growing up. Not a Devils fan.

"So much else goes into it besides who you play," explained Carlson. "I think from that standpoint for a lot of my family its a cool moment. My grandfather is getting older, he's getting up there and I'm sure he'll be happy to be able to see it on TV."
