The Washington Capitals continue working in Day 2 of Rookie Camp
The Washington Capitals kids are back on the ice for day 2 of Rookie Camp 2024. Here are some more prospects to look at.
Jeremy Davidson: He hails from Michigian State and signed an ECHL contract with the South Carolina Stingrays this upcoming season. The 24 year old old recorded 22 points with 12 goals and 10 assists in 38 games during his senior season at Michigan State University this past season. He ranked fifth on the Spartans iin goals and tied for sixth in plus/minus with a plus nine. In addition, his 18.2 shooting percentage ranked tied for second on the team. In 130 career games at Michigan Stae and the University of Massachusett he registered 68 points with 34 goals and 34 assists. He's listed at five foot 10 and 177 pounds.
Seth Eisele: He's a netminder that posted a record of 4-1-1 with 2.37 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in nine appearances during his senior season at University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Lake Elmo, Minnesota native stopped 38 shots to backstop the Mavericks to a 4-1 win over the University of North Dakota on March 9. He is signed with the South Carolina Stingrays for this upcoming season. Prior to UNO he appeared in 47 games at Lake Superior State University from 2020-23 where he posted a 14-6-0 record with a 2.74 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
Zac Funk: He signed with the Caps as a free agent on March 1 and is a right winger from Prince George of the WHL. The 20 year old was named the B.C. for the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy presented annually to the WHL Player of the Year. The six foot, 195 pound forward led the WHL in goals wih 67 and power play goals with 31 along with a plus/minus of +56. He also ranked second in points with 123 in 68 regualr season games with the Prince George Cougars. In addition, Funk established PG signle season franchise records in goals, power play goals points and the plus/minus rating. The British Columbia native added 18 points with eight goals and 10 assists in 15 WHL playoff games including his first career postseason hat trick on April 19 vs. Kelowna.
Brett Hyland: Hyland was drafted by the Caps in the seventh round at 200th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. The 21 year old center led the Brandon Wheat Kings in goals with 32, power play goals with nine, points with 59 and shots with 173 in 66 regular season games in 2023-24. The Edmonton, Alberta native ranked tied for the team lead with five points in four WHL games with a goal and four assists. That included a career high four assist performance on March 29 against Moose Jaw. In 195 career WHL games with Brandon, Hyland tallied 145 points with 75 goals and 70 assists.
