Predicting the 2024-25 Washington Capitals third line
With training camp just around the corner it's time for more early predictions
The Washington Capitals have training camp very soon and today we're going to predict the third line.
Here's what the line projection says via Daily Face-Off:
Sonny Milano- Hendrix Lapierre- Taylor Raddysh
That is feasable but we're going to put things on the line and go with this:
Jakub Vrana - Hendrix Lapierre - Taylor Raddysh
Keep in mind this is just for fun and opening night is still a month and a half away. Lots of moving pieces can happen at the informal skates in the coming weeks. But Jakub Vrana is there working hard and trying to make the team after they agreed to a professional tryout agreement a few weeks ago.
Per Natural Stat Trick, Vrana's career corsi for percentage while a member of the Capitals was at 50.09 during the 2017-18 regular season. His expected goals for percentage was at 51.14 percent and his high danger chances for percentage clocked out to 53.21 percent.
In the playoffs that year Vrana finished with a corsi for percentage of 51.37 percent, a 55.88 percent expected goals for percentage, and a 48.45 percent high danger chances for percentage.
Milano in the regular season last year finished with a corsi for percentage of 48.05 percent, an expected goals for percentage of 50.91 percent and a 49.20 percent high danger chances for percentage. In the playoffs it went up to a corsi for percentage of 56.76 percent while his expected goals for percentage came out to 66.53 percent, and his high danger chances for percentage came out to 66.67 percent.
Needless to say it won't be easy for V to make the lineup right away especially with Milano already established but like we said, anything can happen in the preseason or training camp and that's the fun of it.
So the hot question is can V do it. Some fans think he can while others doubt it. We say let's watch it all play out.
