Same Capitals lineup against Rangers from Charlie Lindgren in net to Alex Ovechkin out

So nothing too suprising here.

The Washington Capitals take on the New York Rangers at 1 p.m. on Monumental Sports Network before you multi sport fans all root for the Packers later. Here's the latest on what coach Spencer Carbery told the media before the game.

Carbery first said that it'll be the same lineup as yesterday's 3-2 win which means Alex Ovechkin remains out. That also means no Darcy Kuemper in net it's all Charlie Lindgren again. So maybe a chance?

While the Capitals still sit at sixth in the Metropolitan Division yesterday's win helped them gain some wild card ground. While the Caps sit fifth there, the two teams ahead of them are only up by one point (Detroit and New Jersey) while the Caps sit two back of the New York Islanders in the second wild card. Obviously those losses to the Bolts and the Isles in the last month did not help.

In yesterday's win the Caps came back twice to tie it. It was Anthony Mantha in the first and it was fitting that he scored in the mental health awareness game with all he's gone through since the infamous trade we all know about and at this point don't even care about.

Then it was Nic Dowd in the third period. He's been on a hot stretch of his own lately. And how about T.J. Oshie? Coming back from an injury. We've only got to sing Country Roads in unison twice as his other goal of his three came on the road. But in the end the Oshbabe couldn't have came back at a better time.

I think this is VERY close. 4-3 something. Who gets it is the question. Lindgren has to bring it again. That is, the one in the white jersey not the blue today. In the Barry Trotz, Todd Reirden, and Peter Laviolette eras they always went with the other in back to backs. Cool to see Carbery do something different. After all you have to try new things if you want this season to be different than the others.
