In the anticipation of the Washington Capitals 50th anniversary season, the Caps are potentially bringing back the iconic Reverse Retro Screaming Eagle. This report comes via Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.

Silber found this out per Icethetics with several clues that suggest that they could be bringing back the jersey. On Instagram there was an account titled "95takengive" showing a T.J. Oshie Screaming Eagle jersey on sale with Fanatics branding which is equivalant to the Adidas authentic line.

Icethetics also mentioned that the branding wouldn't be expected unless he team planned to bring back the jersey. Fanatics has asked teams to hold off on new designs as it takes over as the new jersey sponsor.

Bringing back the Screaming Eagle would be huge for all of us. Fans responded by flooding retail stores during both Reverse Retro launches and Alex Ovechkin even mentioned he wanted to keep the jerseys around.

In the black Screaming Eagle, Ovechkin has scoredd in every game and he surpassed Gordie Howe for number two all time just before the holiday break in 2022 against the Winnipeg Jets. With 42 goals away from breaking the biggest record in hockey, bringing back the reverse retro would make perfect sense.

The 50th anniversary season of the Washington Capitals will take place on Oct. 12 against the New Jersey Devils and the Caps promised to pull out a lot of stops to celebrate this milestone season.

Some key highlights include a Caps 50th Kickoff Celebration that will be a concert on Thursday Oct. 10. Also from Oct. 10-13 is alumni weekend that will bring back past Caps legends.

The home opener includes the Rock the Red carpet and pregame ceremony that will celebrate 50 years of Caps hockey. In addition, there will be Eras Nights where the Caps will host celebrating a specific time period. Fans are encouraged to visit WashCaps.com/Caps50th for more details and to sign up for more info.
