#2 Tom Wilson
Tom Wilson has more goals against the Penguins than any other team in his career. His goal last night started things for the Caps and they didn't turn back after it. He skated on the top line with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin, donning the alternate captain with T.J. Oshie's injury.
It was not only Wilson's 11th goal of the season, it was also his 11th goal in 40 games against Pittsburgh. Rasmus Sandin and Ethan Bear had the assists as the defensemen contributed big time to the win. It was the first of two assists for Sandin to go along with Martin Fehervary's goal.
Tom Wilson told the media after the win:
""I think we came out, we were playing really well. Maybe one of our best periods of the year. We made it a little harder on ourselves than we probably needed to. It was weird. We were playing really well. They get that late one in the first. Then there's a power play. Kind of a weird one there and then they're right in the game. I think it's the classic with Pittsburgh, you have to control the moments a little bit better. They're a momentum driven team. So we have to do a better job just managing some of those moments.""Tom Wilson
