The Washington Capitals season is inching closer and to celebrate 50 years we've put together a list of the top 5 point getters from this past season. For this exercise we included players that played a majority of the season. We had to take Anthony Mantha out of the equation as he got traded to the Vegas Golden Knights mid season.
Mantha did have a good season, however, under year one of the Spencer Carbery expiriment. 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points will do that to up the trade value and that trade turned into backup goalie Logan Thompson to compliment Charlie Lindgren. At least that's our way too early prediction right now.
Dylan Strome
Dylan Strome led the way for the Caps with 27 goals and 40 assists for 67 points. 21 of those goals came at even strength while the other six came from the power play. So the center was always reliable whenever his name was called whether it was an injury to Nicklas Backstrom, top line assignments with Alex Ovechkin.
Per Natural Stat Trick, Strome's corsi for percentage finished at 51.14 percent, his expected goals for percentage at 53.52 percent and his high danger chances for percentage at 54.43 percent at five on five in the regular season. On a line with Alex Ovechkin, his corsi for percentage was at 51.68 which is an improvment from the 50.59 percent that he isn't.
