Top 5 power play scorers on the Capitals
Lets have some more fun
The Washington Capitals season is inching closer as we close out the month of July. Let's take a look at the top 3 power play scorers starting with the obvious one.
Alex Ovechkin
Alex Ovechkin led the Caps with 13 power play goals. They were an intergral part of his 31 goal season to put him 41 away from Gretzky and each one seemed much better than the others.
T.J. Oshie
T.J. Oshie added seven power play goals and there's still some questions lingering about his future. The big one is can he play another season and he turns 38 in March.
Dylan Strome
Dylan Strome adde six power play goals which is a tie with who were going to mention next. What Strome provided two years ago we strongly believe was one of the best moves Brian MacLellan made in the last two years. And it indeed was a home run acquistion. The best part is the center is only 26 so have we even seen that ceiling yet?
John Carlson
You knew this one was coming. John Carlson anchored the power play while playing defense which is no easy job in the NHL. Thankfully he was able to reach the 1,000 game plateau which is an important milestone for the franchise as he's the first defenseman to reach that. The hot question is will he be back?
Tom Wilson
Finally we end this piece with Tom Wilson who had five power play goals and wasn't afraid to lay out 228 hits while averaging 18:06 minutes of ice time every night. His re-signing last summer made lots of people around town happy in these parts and folks in other parts who aren't Caps fans not so much.
Those are our top 5 power play scorers as we keep couting down the days until the season begins.
