Per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News, who was also at the skate, Dowd was in high spirits and a scrimmage followed the informal skate. Dowd was just back in town and headlined a handful of new faces as the season draws closer. Pierre-Luc Dubois also took "good care of the puck and set up quite a few odd man rushes while getting some breakaway chances and scoring on Logan Thompson.
Dubois is continuing to acclimate himself to the team and the D.C. area after the Caps traded away Darcy Kuemper in the middle of the summer in a deal with the Los Angeles Kings.

On Wednesday September 18 the veterans will conduct physicals and off ice testing. This will mark the Caps 18th training camp at the practice facility that opened back in 2007.
