Washington Capitals News: NHLPA Rookie Showcase takes over MedStar
The best youngest players in the NHL are ready for their close up
Ivan Miroshnichenko and other young NHL players took over MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Wednesday afternoon as part of the Upper Deck NHLPA Rookie Showcase. The Washington Capitals rookie is gearing up for an interesting training camp and preseason with aspirations to make the team. Miro was present in Arlington, Va per Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network.
Here's a look at Miro getting his hockey card taken and photos taken where he rocks the Caps 50th anniversary patch on the jersey.
In other news the Caps laid out the ice at Capital One Arena ahead of their 50th anniversary season which is just Rasmus Sandin aka 38 days away.
Miro as we know recorded two goals and four assists for six points in 21 NHL games and multiple people within the organization are confident he can take the leap into a 25-30 goal scorer.
In the AHL with the Hershey Bears, Miroshenicheko had nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in the regular season and seven goals and five assists for 12 points in the Calder Cup playoffs.
And the Elite Prosopects 2022 NHL Draft Guide said the following on the winger
Opponents shouldn't let him catch up on the boards as they will get rammed and they will get stripped of the puck. Miroshnichenko is a bully on the ice, with some surprising soft skills in his handling and shooting. He battles then sneaks away from the play to find scoring space.
EPRRinkside.com would add in 2021
His elite skating, shot, and size makes him tough to manage for opposing teams.
Mike Hamilton added in 2020
Ivan is an elite skater, hits like a truck, and has an unbelievable shot.
In 2019 Draftin Europe added
Opportunistic goal scorer around the net, but also a terrific shooter that needs little room to manoeuvre and release.
Earlier in the morning the Caps would have informal skates before the showcase which included the arrival of Brandon Duhaime. Andrew Mangiapane was also marked present.
Back to the NHLPA showcase, Matt Rempe was present in full game uniform which was odd considering the playoffs for them ended back in May.
