Summer is winding down and fans are gearing up for the fall. Whether you're a football fan, love horror movies, or are just ready for the puck to drop. We saw some good news on social media as John Carlson and Alex Alexeyev each took the ice. The Washington Capitals season inches closer and closer and more players should be back in town soon.

Also happy late birthday to Dale Hunter, who celebrated his big day yesterday. We are now 71 days away from the season starting. So back to school back to class and today's lesson.

What is offside?

In ice hockey, a play is offside if a player that's attacking does not control the puck and is in the offensive zone. It can also be called if a different attacking player causes the puck to enter the attacking zone before the puck carrier. For determining offside, the puck just simply has to cross the blue line from the neutral zone to the offensive zone.

A ref will stop play when an offside is called and the play gets restarted by the closest dot where the offside call took place. A face off will happen and both players have to freeze until the puck hits the ice.

Now if the offside is intentional the face off location is over at the defending spot of the attacking team. If the game gets delayed meaning the puck crosses the glass completely, the face off is over at the defendiing spot of the defending team.

I'll let Snoop Dogg explain some more above.
