The Washington Capitals hardly had any injury woes this season. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for Sonny Milano. But we got to grade everybody so here we go.
Milano appeard in just three games with the Caps and didn't score. Other than that he had dealt with an injury and hasn't been in the lineup since November.
The previous season saw him score 15 goals and add eight assists for 23 points. This past season, Milano skated just an average of 7:13 minutes of ice time after skating and averaging 12:30 a year prior.
Before the injury Milano found himself as the odd man out of the lineup. Then the injury happened. It was an uppper body injury and now the future for Milano is uncertain. He did work hard to try to come back but it was too late.
Milano has a year left on a three year contract extension that he signed in 2023. He had a plus/minus of -3 as he went scoreless throughout the three games.
Milano had 26 goals and 56 points in 118 appearances over the three seasons he spent with the Capitals. In 313 games over 11 years, the 2014 first rounder has 62 goals and 76 assists for 137 points.
"It was a really tough season for Sonny and he worked really hard to come back," said Capitals general manager Chris Patrick during his end of season press conference.
"I think he's still kind of in that process of trying to see if he can get himself healthy, and I think that's going to go into the summer."
Grade F: It was not a good season for Milano. It was hard for him to get in the lineup and then the injury happened. Here's hoping he can get back to full health over the summer.
